Next up on the travel bucket list is the beautiful, US territory of Guam. Since the island is owned by the US, anyone born there is a United States citizen so it’s important to acknowledge the people as such. There are almost 163,000 people who reside on Guam; they are called Guamanians. The indigenous people Chamorro settled on Guam over 4000 years ago.
Guam is the largest of the Mariana Islands and is part of the continent of Oceania. Set on 210 square miles, the weather is pretty much beautiful year-round but some of the best times to visit are between January to July. Rainy season runs between July and November, but the rain is usually light and short. Average temps run around 86 with the lowest recorded at 65. Time moves at a slower pace around Guam so it’s not as modern as the rest of the US, but that is what gives it charm.
Things to See and Do
If you are looking to scuba dive, look no further than Guam, which has some of the best diving around. Guam has great coral reefs and incredible aquatic life. You can even get your scuba certificate with the help of a local dive shop MDA (Micronesia Divers Association). They have the equipment covered and great instructors.
Check out the wildlife at Ritidian Point
If you are a lover of wildlife like myself, you will really enjoy visiting the Ritidian point, which is located at the northernmost tip of Guam. It is owned by the Fish and Wildlife but there are no facilities except portable toilets, but don’t let that stop you. It is well worth the trip to see the National Wildlife Refuge, home to fruit bats, tree snails, crows and archaeological remnants of ancient Chamorro culture.
Check out Guam’s sea life at Fish Eye Marine Park
One of the most popular spots on Guam is the Fish Eye Marine Park with spectacular views of the ocean. You get to experience and see over 200 species of fish at below sea level. Take the sunset cruise tour and experience the beautiful sunset while enjoying a dinner cruise.
Night Market
Charmorro Village is a great place to enjoy some of the best local food on the island. Wednesday night is the place to be in Charmorro Village for the night market. Not only will you enjoy great food, but people dance the night away from kids to the elderly. It is an exciting time in the center court surrounded by Spanish influenced buildings.

Anan Island is only accessible by boat but it makes the list of the top snorkeling sites because of its abundant sea life.

The Dusit Thani Resort is the one 5-star hotel on Guam and is the tallest structure that just opened up. It will be a luxury price per room but some people will be willing to pay for all it offers. Some of the rooms will have outdoor swimming pools with sea views. No stay in a luxury hotel is complete without checking out their spa.
